Why Don't We?
Or, Why Don't They?
Editors note:
I haven’t posted anything in a long time for uninteresting reasons. I hope you stuck with me anyway. No matter what, I thank you for your support.
It seems that no matter how wildly supported by voters of all stripes, the “SAVE” act is not sufficiently supported by the ruling class to be considered and called to a vote.
The question to your representative is simple. Are non-citizens of the US allowed to vote in US elections?
If not, please explain to this simple minded citizen (me) why they should be and why non-citizens who are not physically present are being discriminated against.
It doesn’t seem fair that people all over the world who have not tried (or failed) to enter our country illegally are not allowed to vote in our elections. It would seem that the only qualification for voting by non-citizens is that they entered or remained here illegally.
I don’t think we should reward that behavior at the expense of people in the rest of the world who want to vote in our elections. I think we should mail ballots to every person in every country in the name of equity and inclusion. It’s only fair.
If not, why not?
As an afterthought, why can’t I vote in the elections of other states in this country or even in other cities? Now I’m being discriminated just because I don’t live in a certain locale!
I hope it’s not insulting to those reading this to ask these preposterous questions. I often use sarcasm as a method of demonstrating absurdity. Almost every person of even the smallest IQ already knows the answers to these questions. I would also note that regular readers of this letter already knew everything I just wrote. So why did I write it? That’s another good question.
So now the question is just this; Have any of them asked their elected politicians who oppose the law to explain it to them? If not, why not?
I know why I haven’t. It’s because I have a firm grasp on the obvious.
PS.. Almost every Democrat and a fair amount of Republicans in key positions of power would not vote to include this simple law in the latest omnibus package before congress. I’m astounded!
Okay, I lied. I’m not even surprised.
