As many of my readers know, I have no love for any of the American political parties, particularly the two mentioned above. I have called for, and hoped for, their demise for a very long time. It finally happened.
The Democrat Party went so far off the rails in the last few decades that what it morphed into became a dystopian horror show for any rational observer. In my opinion, it will never win a major election again.
A party of the same name may win elections again. But it will not be the party that just melted in the sun. The current party of insane ideas and even more insane people is no longer viable, if it ever was. It has recently become obvious to all but the deranged Trump haters that it is also the party of no actual ideas.
The Republican Party had suffered from terminal irrelevance for a long time and also visibly melted in the same sunlight. The Lucy Party had pulled the ball away from Charlie one time too many for even the true believers.
They gave up. That party had some ideas, unfortunately most of them were bad. More importantly, they never intended to implement them anyway.
Both of those parties only stood for one thing and it was the same thing. They stood in opposition to each other, no matter what. Craving power isn’t a very appealing goal in the longer term.
So the Republican Party that appears to many to have ascended back into power is like the Democrat Party in that both will keep the same name they had before but really will never win another election again.
The last Republican President was George W. Bush. His presidency was a disaster, even grading on the curve.
So now the old Republican Party has become the Trump Party. Of course it’s not called that, but it sure isn’t the old Republican Party and never will be again. That party is gone forever, just as the current Democrat Party is. And the “Trump Party” will not last forever either. Populist parties fade away as things get changed, even if they change for the better.
Trump and Obama/Biden share one big similarity. They both destroyed their old parties and transformed America forever. It was in different ways of course. But nevertheless they share that distinction.
The “new” Democrat Party has yet to be formed and yet to emerge. We shall see what replaces the old one but you can be sure it won’t be as insane as the current one.
I could bloviate on this in more detail and for a lot longer but I’ll spare you. The only thing this really points to is that those old parties, as they morphed into what they became, were fundamentally flawed and no one who took the time to think about politics cared about either anymore.
Basically most people just want to be left alone to work their jobs, raise their children and enjoy the rewards of those two things. If that happens they don’t give a rip who’s in charge.
I’d like a new party to be named the Restoration Party. But I’ll take any name as long as it points to freedom and constitutionality.
BRAVO Grant!!
